E-file and E-pay Form 940 in QuickBooks
Step 1- Set Up federal e-file and e-pay
Users need to enroll their businesses with the IRS Electronic Federal tax payment System to set up an E-file and pay system. Then they need to schedule payments for the money that businesses owe to the government. Users also need to enroll in the IRS e-file program, and you receive a 10 digit PIN.
Step 2- E-Pay The Federal taxes
You need to consider these two things to make sure that your payments are made on time:-
- If you owe more than $100,000 in federal taxes in a given liability period, you should pay it on the next banking day using the IRS EFTPS website.
- E-payments should be made two banking days prior to the due date, by 5:00 p.m. PT. If it's after that time, you'll have to use the IRS EFTPS website to make the payment.
Steps to E-pay in QuickBooks Desktop
- Tap on the Employees tab and select Payroll Center.
- Click on the Pay Liabilities menu and then go to the Pay Taxes & Other Liabilities section.
- Now choose the liability to pay and tap on the View/Pay button.
- Check if all the details are added correctly.
- Click on E-pay and enter your 4-digit EFTPS PIN and other required information in the E-Pay login window.
